When We Know the Why We're More Apt to Comply - Stacy Summers
/There's a little "Hocus Pocus" town, in the western outskirts of Chicago Proper, within Kane County, where the Fox River runs, and quaint coffee shops and farmer's markets thrive. I live there. The insights I gathered on the County Health Rankings website were somewhat boring (thankfully). I was taken back by the two red-flagged health factors, adult obesity, and sexually transmitted infections. I found it interesting that over 96% have access to exercise opportunities, with only 15% being physically active. We have access to parks, the river walks, gyms, studios, and outlying parks and recreation facilities. It's a struggle to become active in my community. Additional health factors included physical inactivity and alcohol-impaired driving deaths. The website provides opportunities to get involved and be a part of the solution with a taking "Action Center" button, offering step-by-step guidance and tools to help in various ways. There are ways to help on all levels.
